The difficulty of a Clash of Clans war attack matters, but a matchup difference alone does not tell a clan leader whether the attack succeeded. A member can attack a higher Town Hall and still earn three stars, or attack a lower target and return with none.
ClansHQ has updated the Town Hall Comparison and Map Position Comparison views in the War Breakdown table to make the result of every attack easier to scan. Comparison cells are now color-coded by the attack's Stars value, using the same visual language as the dedicated Stars view.
See attack results without losing matchup context
The two comparison views still show the same detailed matchup information:
- Town Hall Comparison displays the attacker's Town Hall level, the target's Town Hall level, and the signed difference between them
- Map Position Comparison displays the attacker's map position, the target's map position, and the signed difference between them
Only the color logic has changed. Previously, the cell color reflected whether the comparison difference was positive, negative, or zero. That made the direction of a matchup easy to spot, but it did not communicate the attack result.
Now the displayed comparison remains intact while the background color answers a more immediate question: how many stars did the attack earn?
One consistent color system for Stars and comparisons
Town Hall Comparison, Map Position Comparison, and the focused Stars view now use the same result-based colors:
- 3 stars use green
- 2 stars use yellow-green
- 1 star uses orange
- 0 stars use red
- Missed attacks retain the distinct missed-attack red treatment
The color is based on the attack's raw Stars result. It is not based on New Stars Obtained. This distinction is important for cleanup attacks: an attack can produce a strong raw star result even when some or all of those stars were already secured on that enemy base.
Clan leaders can still switch to the New Stars Obtained view when they want to focus specifically on fresh stars added to the clan's score.
Why star-based matchup colors are more useful
War analysis often requires two pieces of information at once: the challenge of the target and the outcome of the attack. The updated comparison views bring those signals together in one cell.
A leader reviewing Town Hall matchups can quickly spot a three-star result in green, then read the values to determine whether that member attacked the same Town Hall level, hit up, or hit down. In Map Position Comparison, the same color reveals the result while the displayed positions preserve the lineup context.
This makes several common review tasks faster:
- Find three-star attacks across difficult Town Hall matchups
- Identify zero- and one-star results that deserve a closer look
- Compare outcomes from members assigned to similar map positions
- Separate completed attacks from missed opportunities
- Scan multiple wars without relearning the meaning of cell colors between views
The change also creates a more consistent experience. A green attack means three stars whether a leader is viewing Stars, Town Hall Comparison, or Map Position Comparison. The number and matchup details provide the precise context behind that color.
How to use the updated War Breakdown views
Search for your clan on ClansHQ, open the War table, and switch to Breakdown mode. From the data-view selector, choose Town Hall Comparison or Map Position Comparison.
Each recorded attack keeps its comparison values and signed difference. Use the cell color for a quick read of the raw star result, then inspect the displayed matchup to understand the difficulty behind it. The adjacent average Stars and destruction statistics can provide additional member-level context across the available war history.

Turn war history into better lineup conversations
The best Clash of Clans war decisions rarely come from one statistic. Stars show the result, while Town Hall and map position comparisons help explain the assignment behind it. Missed attacks, destruction percentage, new stars, war strategy, and opponent strength can add further context.
By combining star-based colors with visible matchup details, ClansHQ helps leaders move from a fast visual scan to a more informed review. Use the updated War Breakdown comparisons to find notable attacks, ask better questions, and support lineup decisions with recorded results rather than memory alone.
